The Sandpiper 565 is a sailing sloop with four berth accommodation. She is one of the popular compact cruisers in eastern Canada and in the Great Lakes region. Designed by Leonardo da Costa Sayago, Portuguese Naval Architect, this English Channel craft was first manufactured by Maxim Marine Ltd., Warsash, Southampton, England and later was built under licence by C&L Boatworks, at the time located in Pickering, Ontario, Canada. In the 1970s Maxim Marine built two similar-styled small cruisers, the Sailfish 18 and 25.
